Bring soft pink flowers to sunny edges and rock gardens with this pack of 300 pink rock soapwort seeds. Raise your own low-growing plants to soften stonework or trail over container edges.

Features

  • Package: 300 pink rock soapwort seeds.
  • Botanical name: Saponaria ocymoides.
  • Plant type: Low-growing perennial ground cover.
  • Suitable for rock gardens, border edges, retaining walls, and well-drained containers.
  • Seeds only; live plants, pots, and supports are not included.

Sowing Instructions

  1. Start in trays of moist, well-draining seed-starting mix in spring.
  2. Scatter seeds thinly, press gently into the surface, and cover very lightly with fine mix.
  3. Keep around 65–70°F (18–21°C) in a bright position. Maintain light, even moisture without waterlogging.
  4. Allow several weeks for germination and continue caring for slower seedlings.
  5. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when they have several true leaves and can be handled safely.
  6. Gradually acclimate plants outdoors before planting out after frost danger has passed. Space approximately 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) apart.

Support & Placement

Rock soapwort is a spreading ground cover, not a climbing vine. No trellis or staking is needed. Let stems spread naturally over soil, rock edges, or the sides of a well-drained planter. Avoid tying stems upright or planting in areas with heavy foot traffic.

Care

  • Choose full sun and well-draining soil. Gritty or rocky sites suit this plant better than heavy, waterlogged ground.
  • Water regularly while young plants establish. Once established, let the soil begin to dry between waterings.
  • Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape and tidy trailing growth.
  • Avoid heavy feeding; overly rich soil can encourage loose growth.
  • Keep the crown clear of soggy mulch and provide good drainage during winter.
