Start a low-growing perennial garden project with 1000 mixed creeping thyme seeds. Raise young plants for sunny borders, rock gardens, and spaces between stepping stones.
Features
- Package: 1000 seeds for planting.
- Botanical name: Thymus serpyllum.
- Random mixed colors.
- Low-growing perennial ground cover with aromatic foliage.
- Suitable for sunny, well-drained beds and containers.
- Seeds only; live plants, pots, and accessories are not included.
Sowing Instructions
- Start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last expected spring frost, or sow outdoors after frost danger has passed.
- Use a fine, well-draining seed-starting mix and moisten before sowing.
- Scatter seeds thinly on the surface and press gently into place. Do not bury; light helps germination.
- Keep around 65–75°F in a bright position. Mist gently or water from below to avoid washing away the tiny seeds.
- Keep the surface lightly moist, never soggy. Germination commonly takes 2–4 weeks, with some seedlings appearing later.
- Move small clusters into individual pots when seedlings are large enough to handle.
- Gradually acclimate seedlings outdoors before planting approximately 6–12 inches apart.
Care
- Choose full sun and sharply draining soil. Avoid low spots where water collects.
- Water regularly during establishment. Once rooted, allow the soil to dry between waterings and water during prolonged dry spells.
- Remove weeds carefully while young plants establish and spread.
- Trim lightly after flowering to maintain compact growth. Avoid cutting deeply into bare woody stems.
- Feed sparingly; heavy fertilizer and overly rich soil are unnecessary.
- Keep foot traffic off new plants. Use stepping stones for frequently traveled routes.
- Provide good winter drainage and keep wet mulch away from plant crowns.
Seed Disclaimer
Germination is affected by temperature, environment, and planting techniques. We sell seeds only and do not guarantee 100% germination.
