Start your own lantana plants with this pack of 50 flower seeds. Enjoy raising seedlings for a sunny garden bed or patio container.
Introduction
Lantana brings clusters of small flowers and textured green foliage to warm-weather gardens. Growing from seed is a hands-on project for gardeners who enjoy nurturing plants from the beginning.
Features
- Package: 50 lantana flower seeds.
- Plant type: Frost-tender flowering shrub, often grown as an annual in colder climates.
- Suitable for sunny beds, borders, and containers with drainage.
- Seeds only; live plants, flowers, pots, and supports are not included.
Sowing Instructions
- Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours before sowing.
- Sow about ⅛ inch (3 mm) deep in moist, well-draining seed-starting mix.
- Keep warm at around 75–85°F (24–29°C). Maintain even moisture without waterlogging.
- Be patient: lantana germination can be slow and uneven, taking several weeks or longer.
- Provide bright light after seedlings emerge. Transplant into individual pots once they have several true leaves and established roots.
- Gradually acclimate plants outdoors before transplanting after frost risk has passed.
Support & Care
- Choose full sun and well-draining soil. Use containers with drainage holes.
- No climbing trellis is needed. If young stems lean in a windy spot, use a small stake with loose, soft ties.
- Water regularly while plants establish. After establishment, allow the soil to begin drying between waterings.
- Pinch young growing tips to encourage branching and trim lightly to maintain shape.
- Remove spent flowers and developing berries to limit self-seeding. Protect tender plants from frost.
Safety & Garden Placement
For ornamental growing only. Lantana can be toxic if ingested; keep seeds and plants away from children, pets, and livestock. Lantana can spread aggressively in warm climates. Check local planting guidance before growing outdoors and prevent escape into natural areas.
