Sowing Instructions

1. Start indoors 6–8 weeks before your last expected spring frost, or sow outdoors after frost danger has passed.
2. Use fine, well-draining seed-starting mix. Moisten before sowing.
3. Scatter seeds thinly on the surface and press gently into place. Do not bury; light helps germination.
4. Keep around 65–75°F in a bright position. Mist gently or water from below to avoid washing away the tiny seeds.
5. Keep the surface lightly moist, never soggy. Germination commonly takes 2–4 weeks, with some seedlings appearing later.
6. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, move small clusters into individual pots.
7. Gradually acclimate seedlings outdoors before planting approximately 6–12 inches apart.

Care

• Choose full sun and sharply draining soil. Avoid low spots where water collects.
• Water regularly while young plants establish. Once rooted, allow the soil to dry between waterings and water during prolonged dry spells.
• Keep weeds clear while plants spread and join together.
• Trim lightly after flowering to maintain tidy, compact growth. Avoid cutting deeply into bare woody stems.
• Feed sparingly; overly rich soil and heavy fertilizer are unnecessary.
• Keep foot traffic off new plants. Once established, use stepping stones for regularly traveled routes.
• Provide good winter drainage and avoid piling wet mulch over the crown.
