Start a long-term flower-growing project with this pack of 50 mixed climbing clematis seeds. Enjoy nurturing seedlings and guiding their young growth onto a garden trellis.
Features
- Package: 50 clematis seeds.
- Purple, red, and pink mix. Random mixed colors.
- Plant type: Perennial flowering climber.
- Suitable for trellises, garden netting, and wire supports.
- Seeds only; live plants, flowers, pots, and supports are not included.
Sowing Instructions
- Fill pots with clean, well-draining seed-starting mix and moisten before sowing.
- Sow seeds individually and cover with a thin layer of mix or fine grit.
- Place pots in a sheltered outdoor cold frame so they experience natural seasonal temperature changes. Protect from heavy rain, rodents, and other pests.
- Keep the mix lightly moist, never waterlogged.
- Be patient: clematis germination can take several months, and some seeds require more than one seasonal cycle. Do not discard pots after only a few weeks.
- Once seedlings have several true leaves and established roots, move them carefully into individual pots.
- Gradually acclimate young plants to their final position before transplanting.
Care & Training
- Choose a sunny or partly shaded position with fertile, well-draining soil.
- Keep roots cool with a light mulch, leaving space around the stems.
- Water regularly while plants establish, keeping roots moist without standing water.
- Provide a sturdy trellis with thin wires, rods, or netting that leaf stalks can grip. Guide young stems gently and use loose, soft ties where needed.
- Feed established plants according to the fertilizer label.
- Remove dead or damaged growth. Observe flowering time and identify the pruning group before heavy pruning.
- Allow time for seedlings to establish; growing clematis from seed is a patient gardening project.
